Infrastructure

LIBRARY – THE KNOWLEDGE CENTER
The Central Library of N.C. College of Engineering, established in 1998, is a fully computerized library. It is really a place of individual study and research and maintains a reader friendly inviting atmosphere of quiet and dignity. Presently, the Library occupies covered area of 1291 sq.m. with sitting capacity of 450 users at a time and air-conditioned Faculty Reading Hall. To provide full information support to teaching- learning process, the Library has a rich collection of 32427 books, and 1915 CDs of books and periodicals. The Central Library subscribes 362 titles of International and National Journals - including the access to 391 e-journals. It also stacks about 450 back volumes of important journals. In addition, the Library has seven Departmental Libraries under its control. Departmental Library includes Departmental Library of Mechanical Engineering, Departmental Library of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Departmental Library of Computer Science Engineering, Departmental Libraries of MBA, MCA and Departmental Library of English Language.

DIGITAL LIBRARY
The Central Library also has a Digital Library Section, with 10P-IV computers, 1915 CD-ROM & floppies of Books and Periodicals. It also provides access to Internet and e-resources of Science Direct online 238 e-Journals to the students and faculty members. The name of the Library is on the membership list of INDEST-AICTE Consortium for the last four years.

DELNET ONLINE SERVICES
To facilitate efficient and effective searching of information through the various online databases and union catalogue the NCCE Library has taken membership of Developing Library Network (DELNET), New Delhi. The DELNET provides the delivery of individual books as and when required by Member-Libraries and photocopies of journal articles that are published in India and Foreign journals through the Inter–Library loan with Loan/Document Delivery Services. By these facilities we can access about 80 lac books and thousands of journals.

NPTEL FACILITIES
The central library also provides NPTEL Contents (Video) facilities to the students of the college. It has acquired contents of web based and video based lectures in two Hard disk(500 GB)SATA that contain lectures of hundred courses from NPTEL through BODH Bridge Educational Service Private Limited ,IIT Madras, Chennai.

BORROWING OF BOOKS:
The student members of the Library are entitled to borrow library books generally for fortnight. B. Tech. students can borrow two to three books at a time. However, MBA & M. Tech. students are entitled to borrow three to five books at a time. The B.Tech. students can avail book bank facilities by paying Rs. 1500 (Rs. 500/- as per year charges and Rs. 1000/- as security). The Student Benefit Funds facility is also provided by the library. The Library stores 4339 books presently under these schemes.

REFERENCE SERVICE: 
The Library provides both short and long term reference services to the users. It stores 4216 titles of Reference and Text books with all general and specialized dictionaries/encyclopedias, handbooks, manuals and other information sources for the purpose of ready references. The library also has sufficient books and other study materials helpful to students in preparing for various examinations. 

OPEN ACCESS:
To promote reading habits among the students the library is following an open access system that enables students to walk amidst books, browse under guidance and handle books freely. The facilities of Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) are also available. 

CURRENT AWARENESS SERVICES: 
To make the students aware about current developments in their subject of interest the library exhibits content services of about 80 print journals.

INTER LIBRARY LOAN:
The Library also offers the Inter Library Loan Services. We help the students in getting the reading materials unavailable in our library from nearby Engineering Colleges’ libraries and provide them the required books and information.

REPROGRAPHY: 
The Library undertakes reproduction of materials available in its collection for research, study and private “fair use” only.

TIMINGS: 
The working hours of the library are from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm during all the working days very much in conformity with out-of-class hours and self- study timings of students.

STAFF: 
The Library has a sufficient number of fully qualified and experienced staff that can understand and respond to the information requirements of students and teachers and help them with sympathy and understanding in the selection of reading materials and information search with the cooperation of Library Committee comprising of Heads of various departments and subject experts. 

We at NCCE are shouldering this responsibility of nation building. N.C College of Engineering, since its establishment in 1998, has played a vital role in training and developing the technocrats and managers who have excelled in their respective fields and have contributed immensely to the industry and society.

Note: Students seeking admission to the hostel should submit the Hostel Admission Form.. Applicants along with Parent (Father/Mother) should personally report to the warden at the time of admission.

Rules and Regulations

  1. Inmates are required to sign in the Exit and Entry register every time they leave and return hostel premises (expect for the college working hours) giving full details. Any inmate-leaving hostel without having signed the register is liable to be fined Rs. 50/- in the first instance and Rs. 100/- fine on subsequent repetitions. If a student perpetually leaves the hostel without any information, he or she will be expelled from the hostel.
  2. No inmate is permitted to go out during college hours without the permission of Chief Warden/Warden/HoD. Application for Station Leave has to be submitted in Form No. NCCE/H/3 and submit the same at the Main Gate..
  3. Inmates have to be back in the hostel as per timings given below and attend the roll call everyday except when they are granted prior permission officially or overnight leave. No inmate should leave the hostel after attendance.

  1. If a resident leaves station without prior sanction of the warden, no subsequent letter from parent/guardian will be accepted and disciplinary action will be taken.
  2. Visitors, certified by the parents in form No. NCCE/H/1 can be allowed to meet the inmates. Two sets of photographs of certified visitors should be submitted.
  3. In any case of misconduct/violation of the rules, the case shall be referred to the Proctorial Board, leading to the expulsion from the hostel.

Code of Conduct

  1. All the students are supposed to attend their classes. Any student caught in the hostel room during class hours without permission of the HoD/valid reason, suitable punitive action will be taken against him/her.
  2. Smoking, consuming liquor and drugs are strictly prohibited. Violation of the rules would lead to immediate expulsion.
  3. If any inmate is found forging Wardens’/Parents’/Local Guardian’s signature, he/she may be expelled from the hostel without any hearing.
  4. Inmates must not indulge in ragging in any form, as it is a criminal offence as per IPC, otherwise punishment as per rules will be given.
  5. Inmates are not to undertake any type of paid work without specific prior permission of the Director/ Principal.
  6. Inmates are strictly required to maintain silence in the corridors. Every student is expected to be in his/her room after 10:30 p.m.
  7. Battery operated transistors; record players may be played at a low volume. As a rule, inmates shall not carry any activity in the room, which would cause disturbance to other inmates.
  8. No inmate is allowed to take food in his/her room. Everybody has to eat in the dinning hall. Sick student/Staff can take food in the room only with the permission of the Warden.
  9. No crockery or food is to be taken out of the dining hall.
  10. No cooking is allowed in the hostel room.
  11. No music / loud noise is allowed in the dinning hall when the food is served.
  12. Inmates should be in proper dress while in the dinning hall.
  13. Inmates are required to keep their rooms, toilets and surroundings tidy. They are not allowed to disfigure the walls. They are accountable for any misuse, damage or loss of the property of the hostel. Wastage should be thrown in to the dustbin, otherwise strict action will be taken.
  14. Lights and fans should be switched off while leaving the rooms otherwise a fine of Rs. 100/- per room shall be imposed.
  15. Inmates are responsible for their own belongings. It is advised not to keep any jewellery or large sum of money in their rooms. Hostel authorities shall not be responsible for any theft/loss.
  16. Any student caught in theft, action will be taken against him/her including police case.
  17. If required, any of the above rule(s) may be suitably amended and notified from time to time.

Note: Rooms are subject to surprise checks by principal/ his authorized individual at any time. Any violation of hostel rules mentioned above or elsewhere in the prospectus would lead to confiscation of unauthorized property/fine/ suspension or both.
